This is posted on behalf of President Jessica Howard
It is with a heavy heart that I report that Mike Vargo is leaving the college. He served as our Vice President of Academic Affairs (and then Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs) for almost two years, during some of our most challenging times.
David Hallett has agreed to assume the role of VP of Academic and Student Affairs in an interim capacity. His background as VP of Governance and Administration and previously as the Executive Dean of General Education, combined with years of working closely with CFA leadership, will enable him to immediately be familiar with important work already happening.
This move creates a vacancy in David’s permanent VP role, which Alice Sprague will fill as the Interim Vice President of Governance and Administration. Heather McDaniel will backfill Alice as the Interim Associate Vice President of Human Resources. These are temporary solutions to fill these critical positions, but the interim roles will last at least a year. We need constancy and experience during this time of change.
Please help the college make these transitions with your utmost support. We have a very promising future ahead of us, and need to pull together as we look forward.
Sincerely, Jessica
