The College and the Chemeketa Faculty Association (CFA) agree that safe and healthful work and learning environments contribute to the prevention of injuries and reduction of property damage, and recognize that a proactive approach to the safety of everyone is a mutual priority. The college continues to maintain policies and procedures that address safety and the workplace environment.

During the 2024-27 Faculty Collective Bargaining cycle the College and CFA agreed to establish a Safety Processes Committee in an effort to ensure meaningful and transparent safety processes.  The purpose of the Safety Processes Committee is to review and assess current procedures and make recommendations as needed to the vice presidents. The desired goal is to complete a review of existing safety-related procedures and practices and recommend changes, as identified, to the vice presidents for consideration.

We are soliciting nominations from interested faculty members who would like to participate in this effort. The time commitment for meetings is estimated to be 2-4 hours per term during the 2025-26 academic year. We would like to have faculty representation from multiple perspectives and areas of the college for this committee. We anticipate having four faculty members join four administrators to embark upon this work.

If you are interested in nominating yourself for this work, please email Mary Scamahorn (mary.scamahorn@chemeketa.edu) no later than October 1, 2025 with a brief statement about why you are interested in this committee and what you hope this committee will accomplish this year.

Thank you for your consideration,

David
